Autumn Ness is the Executive Director of Lahaina Community Land Trust, where they are building a rapidly growing, community-owned and governed land base, with a goal to permanently protect 20% of Lahaina's residential real estate from speculator interests, and build an inventory of residential, commercial and cultural lands, restoring and caring for Lahaina's 'āina and ea. A settler to Hawai'i, displaced from Japan after the tsunami and nuclear meltdown, she has intimate experience with the influx of outside wealth and displacement that unfolds after disasters. She previously served as Senior Affordable Housing Policy Advisor for Council Member Johnson, chair of Affordable Housing. She is also the founder of the Maui Food Hub, a response to COVID that has now become vital and permanent farm-to-consumer infrastructure.
